Handheld Games Experience
Crazy Coaster - Developer
This was my first work experience out of DigiPen. I was taken in while I finished up the last of my schooling as a full-time "intern." Working on games was very exciting especially because this was on an extremely limited platform such that every little optimization counted. The game was a Roller Coaster Tycoon and Theme Park Management game. The game was written completely in C and my responsibilities were:
- Menu System
- Park visitor AI
- First person ride perspective (One of the game highlights)
- Park economy and management UI and implementation.
- Trophy system.
- Coaster rating system.
Sadly the game did not see the light of day as it was finished but never released.
In-house Nintendo DS Game Engine - Developer
Network Engine
I moved to the game engine team as I was very interested in the multi-player networking aspect. I worked with developer support at Nintendo to build an easy to use multi-player system including single-card Download play, multi-card wireless (NiFi) play, and Nintendo WiFi play.
Cheetah Girls 3 (DS) - Network play developer.
At a point the studio had 2 Nintendo DS games in the works and to aid in development time I integrated most of the multi-player into the game. I am however uncredited as I left the company before the game could be completed.
Phineas and Ferb (DS: Cancelled title)
There was a small team working on a Disney property Nintendo DS game for Phineas and Ferb. The game went through multiple massive design changes and so they had begun to bring in the engine team for help. I was responsible for multi-player and 3D collision detection and reaction before the game was cancelled.
